TIPS FOR RECORDING IN MINNESOTA:
- Always include marital status of the parties when recording deeds and mortgages
- A $5 Conservation fee will be required in Anoka, Carver, Dakota, Hennepin, Ramsey, Scott, Washington, Waseca, Winona, and Wright counties
- The tax for Quit Claim Deeds is $1.65, except in Hennepin & Ramsey counties it is $1.70
- The tax for mortgages is $.0023/$1000, except in Hennepin & Ramsey counties it is $.0024/$1000
- The tax for deeds is $.0033/$1000, except in Hennepin & Ramsey counties it is $.0034/$1000
- ALL DEEDs must have the tax statement information completed
- The “Drafted by / prepared by” section must always be completed with names and addresses
- Legal description must always be included in document or attached as exhibit
- Notary acknowledgement must include marital status of signers
